• When Surfing/Bodyboarding in cold water you really need the right armor to have any chance to stay the distance. Glued, sealed seams are a must. Consider a minimum thickness of 3/2. Titanium-lined suits are our warmest, as the Titanium reflects your body heat—increasing the amount of barrels you can catch in a single session by 900%. The stretch in a wetsuit is also important because a restrictive suit will make you feel more tired after a couple of hours of paddling.
• Neck entry (ZB) suits are great, as they stop cold flushes down your spine and almost completely eliminate water entering your suit. Many surfers and bodyboarders don't like mesh (smoothie) on the chest anymore as it can split or wear, so we can replace the mesh with standard neoprene. This option will also last longer than smoothie.
• For extra warmth add another layer underneath, such as the 0.5mm Titanium Hot Top or a Hooded Hot Top. Cover the extremes: booties and gloves are a necessary evil, and 12ºC (54ºF) seems to be the magic number for when people feel the need to wear booties. The Kidney Belt is a favourite addition for many, adding warmth and firmness round the waist and through the kidney's.
