ROAD TESTED: 2012 NMD Winchester 3D
NMD spent some serious time in research and development before releasing their first hybrid core and we can assure you it has been well worth the wait. Take this breakthrough technology, the shaping master skills of Nick Mesritz and the signature shape of one of the most exciting and naturally talented men ever to pick up a bodyboard and the end result is a board which we were just itching to test: the NMD Winchester 3D.
The NMD Winchester 3D really is an extension of Winny's own genre of bodyboarding — smooth, clean and versatile. A slightly wider nose than many of his peers ride creates a straighter template that is just begging to approach the lip and won't slow down when changing direction.
The 3D core provides the perfect balance between PE and PP - fast and lightweight while possessing fantastic flex and recoil. We haven't found a board that drives off the bottom as well as this one and it's true testament to the fact that NMD and Dave Winchester really are at the cutting edge of bodyboard design and manufacturing.
FEATURES
-
Core: VS/NMD 3D Core (This core features various sandwich lamination combinations, each specifically engineered to give the boards different flex response targeted for specific wave and water conditions. A PP top layer is laminated to a PE bottom layer via a cross-linked energy transfer intermediate layer.)
-
Stringer: Carbon Fibre Stringer (Designed to add longevity to a board by improving stiffness and recoil while also greatly increasing the ability for projection. The stringer also enhances performance and control.)Deck: 8lb PE decking (A super comfortable decking material that is designed to allow your body to lock with your board. Also very durable.)
-
Slick: Surlyn Channelled Slick (Is your only choice for slick if you demand the greatest amount of response and durability. This high performance slick is the finest grade surlyn made only by dupont, featuring elastic-like qualities and superior projection)
-
Channels: Graduated Channels (Ensure that the rider gets enough hold on the waves without being locked into undesirable situations.)
-
Tail: Clipped Crescent Tail (Provides superior control and hold on the wave face while also allowing for ease of rail to rail transitions and release from carves and spins.)
-
Additional Features: Bull Grips (Small bulbs on the underside of the nose of the board that enhance grip and control), Nose and Tail Buffers (An additional layer of padding on the nose and tail of the board that promotes longevity and durability.), 55/45 Double Rails.
We have a number of colours and sizes in stock, so just ask if you have a preference.
