September 2011

Spring is in the air here at Seventhwave. Snow has blanketed the city twice in the last few weeks but now the sun is shining and days are getting longer.

This month we take you down to Snow Park for some mountain action and onto California for a reality surf trip on the tightest budget imaginable. Some feedback from a future NZ Olympic sailor, a bit of 'what's new' online and we want your help to name our new model winter wetsuit for freezing water temperatures.

THE LINEUP:

Snow day fun...

With snow across the country keeping people home from work and school last month, folks had to make their own fun. But how many people tried jumping a Subaru over a ski jump? Check out this crazy video of Ken Block's snow day exploits.

Help! Our new suit needs a name
New-suit.jpg

At Seventhwave we are constantly undergoing research and development to create the best wetsuits we can. Over the last few months we've been tinkering with a brand new winter model, designed to be used in freezing temperatures. It features a fixed angle neck entry system to prevent any leakage, titanium-lined Aero Zirconium neoprene, and has a built-in hood. It's our warmest suit yet.

However, we're stuck on what to call this beast. So we want to hear what you guys think. Email or Facebook us with a suggested name, and the winner will get kudos and a chocolate fish!

What's new online?

"The only constant in life is change". Speaking of changes, our website has had a whole swag of new stuff added. Our new 'In Print' section has Seventhwave articles, news and designs in various magazines and papers, and is still being updated. We've also got a new 'Repairs' page with handy advice and some great before and after shots. Have a peek.

Stoked and Broke
Stoked_Broke.jpg

Making their own boards, bamboo rickshaws, solar cookers, and hobo stoves, surfers Ryan Burch and Cyrus Sutton set off on a thirty mile, eight day walk through San Diego, CA. "Stoked and Broke is a refreshing breath of crisp, early-morning air.  The film has a perfect mix of humor, adventure, creativity, honesty and uniquely incredible surfing.” – Dave Allee. Feedback from an Optimist
Sail.jpg

quote.gif Patrick and Carmen spend long days in their Seventhwave wetsuits training, racing and just playing. Optimist regattas are long an tough on the young kids. Conditions can be really rough. Patrick especially, pushes the limits and takes a few unplanned swims. They think your wetsuits are great. Comfy and warm. As a parent I'm grateful for a tough, quality, good fitting kids wetsuit. We especially like that they can be custom sized.

That's right, Seventhwave is now on Skype. If you search 'seventhwave NZ' and request us as a friend, we can help you out with any query's or questions via video.

With Summer on the way down-under its a good time to check and service your gear. If your wetsuit needs a medical, send it in and we’ll give it a complete maintenance service to extend its use-by date. Even the best gear can suffer from high-mileage and over-use fatigue.

We love feedback, good and not-so-good; it’s the only way we can improve so don’t hold back. For the latest in pics, vid, and blog action, visit us online. Seventhwave online changes daily.

See you out the back,
The Seventhwave Team
