North Wai Boardriders are also celebrating the 26th Annual Dunga Classic over the weekend of 11th and 12th of Feb. Full on action from North to South—so take a breather below.
THE LINEUP:
Jackson Mills meets GoPro
What happens when you combine a whole lot of talent, a GoPro camera on a pole, and trademark Christchurch Estuary winds? Jackson Mill's shredding, that's what.
Watch as Seventhwave ambassador and two-time Canterbury Kiteboarding Champion shows the rest of us how it's done.
Wilderness surf? Try Helisurf
New Zealand has 15,134 km of beautiful coastline (the 9th longest in the world), and a good deal of that has hard-to-access waves that are little-surfed. The South West of New Zealand is no different—but thanks to Helisurf, we can now enjoy an excellent range of surf breaks in stunning scenery and clean waters. The experts at Helisurf watch the waves and weather, and then fly you in for an unforgettable wilderness surf experience. Plus you get to go in a helicopter.. rad! If their photo's are anything to go by, the South West could be a new favourite surf destination.
Where has your wetsuit been this summer?
Have you just come back from a Big Bay helisurf? Got a snap of you swimming with jelly fish, running through sprinklers, or ripping your local? Show us by uploading a photo of you in your Seventhwave Wetsuit on our Facebook page, and be in to win treats. There's already been some great shots, from Australian angles to teeny toddlers—have a look.
SEWN on tour

The saga that is SEWN—a unique longboarding film covering the four coasts of New Zealand's North Island—is done. The post-production is over and starting in January, the film will be shown on big screens across New Zealand. Seventhwave will be supporting the Sumner screenings on March 9, but if you're not in Christchurch, make sure to check where the film is screening in your town. Oh, and here's the trailer to appease your appetite.
Feedback: who needs batteries?
My MAX Ti G&S ZB Steamer is awesome. My mate had the new Rip Curl HBOMB and my MAX was on par with his, except I didn't have to charge batteries after every surf! I could have stayed in the water for hours. There was almost zero water penetration, a little bit would creep up an arm or leg every now and then but that was it. No cold flush down the back which is awesome. The water temp was 9.8 degrees...
It was amazing how there was zero penetration of the cold through to my skin—I could have been sitting at home on the couch with normal clothes on, that's how comfortable I felt. Combine that with the hood and I was laughing. Crew could not believe I was only wearing a 3mm suit. Once again thanks, the suit is awesome.

Surfing with kites
Ever wanted that little extra pull on a windy, slow-wave day? Grab a kite and go to new heights... literally.
This sick video blends some amazing surfing with kite power, for the benefit of us at home. All without board straps—unreal stuff.
